It may be the last month of the year, but there’s still plenty going on in the world of motoring this month there’s a look ahead to the next decade with details about Citroen’s next-generation C3, plus a investigation by Auto Express, have revealed suprising findings about our favourite festive treats.
Citroen Reveals Prices For New C3!
French car manufacturer Citroen have releaved details and prices for their all-new C3.
The five door supermini will be available in a range of trims and engines and will start at £10,790 for the basic 1.1 litre VT model rising to £16,140 for the 1.6 litre Exclusive.
The car will be available in VT, VTR+ and Exclusive trim levels. A special edition Airstream+ model will also be available, costing £14,490 it will feature a 1.6 litre 90bhp diesel engine.
Scrappage Scheme To Come To An End!
The UK car Scrappage Scheme which was extended a few months ago, will not be extended a second time. The Scrappage scheme has helped to increase UK car sales, which were up 5.9% from May to November, compared with the same time last year. The car market is still down 15.9%, which is probably mostly down to the recession. Hyundai has been the biggest winner
during the Scrappage Scheme, with over 30,000 cars been registered under the Scrappage Scheme, the i10 city car has been their top seller, with over 2,000 finding homes under the scheme. Ford was 2nd with 30,038 cars registered while Ssangyong were last with just 2 cars sales under the Scrappage Scheme!
Festive Desserts Could Put You Over Drink-Drive Limit!
An investigation by UK car magazine Auto Express has found that even motorists who follow drink-drive rules could end over the drink-drive limits. The investigation showed that 30 drinking after drinking a small glass of medium-strength wine, a test showed there was 0.2% of blood alcohol concentration. After eating a luxury mince pie with brandy butter, the reading rose dramatically to more than 1.5%, that’s twice the legal limit.
So careful what your eating during this festive season if you want indulge in a mince pie or some sherry rifle, why not leave your car at home?
A Decade In Motoring!
It has been an eventful decade in the world of motoring with revial of car manufacturers and the end of some others, exciting new models and rising petrol prices, here are some of the events of the decade.
2000- The end of leaded petrol, it was banned on fourcourts. Fuel blockades with protests about high petrol prices in September.
2001- BMW launch the Oxford-built Mini, over 1.55 million have been since been sold
2002: Germany’s Rolls-Royce arrived available as a short and long wheel base saloon.
2005: The last of British-owned volume car manufacturer, MG Rover collapsed in 2005. The Nanjing Automotive company of China re-started MG TF production in 2007 and have plans for new models including a replacement for the MG ZS.
2006: Return of Bugatti, Volkswagen relaunched the brand in 2000, the first Bugatti Veyrons were delivered in 2006 it became the world’s fastest production car with a huge W16 engine.
2007: Classic sporting brand Abarth had been bought by Fiat in 1971, Abarth was re-launched in 2007, with the Abarth Grande Punto.
2008: Land Rover are sold the Indian vehicle manufacturer TATA.
2009: Car Scrappage scheme is launched by UK government.

Rolls-Royce’s Ghost is on sale, joining it’s big brother the Phantom in the company’s model range, the price? £180,000.

BRIEF NEWS…
V AT Rise In January!
The VAT is due to go back to 17.5% in January, while a rise of 2.5% doesn’t sound much it can make hundreds of pounds difference when it comes to the price of a new car.
If you are looking to buy a new car, as some firms are passing on the price rise for cars deliverered after 31st December. Other manufacturers are extended the 15% VAT rate though so make sure you find out before buying a new car.
Details About New Astra!
The new Astra is available with a range of eight engines from the 1.4 litre petrol which is available which is available with 78 or 98bhp to the 2.0 litre 158bhp diesel engine.
It is available in S, Exclusiv, SRI, SE and Elite trim levels, entry-level models have ESP, air-conditioning and six airbags as standard with prices starting at around £16,000. The previous Astra was the best-selling British built car in the UK, so the new model has a lot to live up to.
